Italia’s police force is facing a fresh scandal after a court found an officer guilty of abusing a child for three years.
The court in Turin convicted an officer of molesting the then 13-year-old son of a policewoman.
It was not immediately clear what sentence the officer, identified only as Roberto, was to serve.
He has been on leave since his arrest in September, and has not yet entered a plea.
In October, a court in Rome ordered the prosecutor’s office to investigate allegations of sexual abuse by the officer.
The case has drawn international attention, with several Italian journalists asking the country’s top prosecutor to investigate whether he was in the right.
